UCI Mountain Bike World Championships VAL DI SOLE
August 25-29, 2021 - COMMEZZADURA - VAL DI SOLE (Trentino, Italy)

Mud, wheels, dust, jumps, crashes, duels. In a word: SHOW.

The Mountain Bike World Championships return from 25 to 29 August in Val di Sole for a record edition. For the first time in the history of the MTB World Championships, titles will be awarded in six disciplines in Trentino.

An intense programme unfolds through a breathtaking week:

Wednesday, 25 August 2021: Team Relay (free entry)

The World Championships programme starts with the team race, unveiling the strength of a movement. Three men athletes (one Junior, one U23 and one Elite) and three women athletes, representing their country, will compete on the Cross Country course with the order of the relay riders freely decided by the technical staff. A spectacular race, ready to give the first twists and turns.

Thursday, 26 August 2021: JR Cross Country World Championships and Short Track World Championships (free entry)

In the morning the first Cross Country World Championships’ jerseys will be awarded with the race of the future protagonists of the Olympic discipline of Mountain Bike.

In the afternoon, the great novelty of the World Championships programme, the Short Track, a discipline with a recent history, but took very little time to win the hearts of athletes and fans, offering uncertain and tight races from the first to the last lap. Short track lasts about 20 minutes and is usually run on 1/1.5 km loops, offering exciting battles and rewarding athletes with a great start and the ability to work outside the threshold.

Friday, 27 August 2021: E-MTB World Championships and Four-Cross World Championships (free entry)

Friday promises to be a long afternoon with the E-MTB World Championships. After taking the lead in the cycling movement, ebikes have also entered the world of competition in an increasingly credible way. After all, if the reigning E-MTB World Champion is a certain Tom Pidcock, the conditions are right for a top-class line-up at the World Championships in Val di Sole.

In the evening the Four-Cross show will kick off. A discipline that in Val di Sole has found its ideal location for the most important event of the season. Heats of four athletes, 600 metres of downhill track, jumps and berms. The Four-Cross is an elimination tournament, in which the strongest athletes must gain access to the stages that count, battery after battery. The Four-Cross is an adrenalin rush without interruption until the decisive battery, the final one: the one that assigns the UCI World Champion jersey.

Saturday 28 August 2021: U23 and Elite Cross Country World Championships (ticket entry)

It’s the mountain bike discipline par excellence, the one that awards an Olympic medal every four years. The Cross Country is a matter of technique, speed and resistance, all of those to be displayed on a 4 km dirt circuit, mostly natural, to be faced multiple times according to the different categories. After the mass start, the 180 metres of altitude difference per lap will make the difference between the protagonists fighting for the rainbow jerseys.

Sunday 29 August 2021: Downhill World Championships (ticket entry)

Val di Sole’s stage comes in the midst of the competitive season, but the Black Snake track is a topic for discussion all year long. Riders either love it or hate it: there’s no middle ground. The most technical and daring athletes look forward to the showdown in one of the toughest and most famous downhill tracks in Europe, with a 540 mt. elevation gain to be faced over 2.400 meters to be ridden full-throttle, mostly natural, with rocks, roots, trees and jumps making the difference between the winners and those who will have to settle. Winning in Val di Sole always has a special flavour, but this year it is worth double: the rainbow jersey and the glory.
