IL VAMPIRO
Liberamente ispirato al racconto di John William Polidori
Destinato a un’immensa fortuna letteraria (dal Dracula di Stoker alla saga di Twilight) e cinematografica (dall’espressionismo tedesco a Hollywood), il signore della notte, il non-morto che si nutre del sangue di creature giovani e belle, nato dalla fantasia popolare, e tenuto in vita dalla tradizione orale, conquista la dignità letteraria nel 1819 grazie al ventunenne John William Polidori, segretario particolare di Lord Byron, autore del racconto Il Vampiro, un sinistro romanzo di formazione che partendo dalla Londra del bel mondo, attraversa le rovine di Roma antica e di Atene, per poi tornare a Londra.
Nel racconto di Polidori, i tipici ingredienti del genere gotico – il naufragio dei buoni sentimenti, l’innocente come vittima designata, la passione come territorio di caccia per predatori senza scrupoli, lo spettro della follia – si fanno specchio oscuro dove non è facile distinguere tra vittima e carnefice, in cui affiorano i turbamenti della giovinezza (tra omosessualità e incesto) e balena improvvisa la possibilità che il male si intrecci indissolubilmente con l’incarnazione della bellezza.
Silvio Castiglioni ci conduce nei meandri di questo piccolo capolavoro di suspence molto amato da Goethe, che alla sua uscita ottenne un enorme successo di pubblico e scandalizzò i benpensanti.

Maximum of 9 minutes to pay
Tickets purchases by credit card must be completed within a maximum of 9 minutes,
